LAMONGAN CITY
Lamongan Regency is one of tourism place in East Java, which has potency of nature, culture and tourism attraction that be able to expose the completely tourism enchantment (The East Java Natural Enchantment). Lamongan is one of tourism object in East Java that has glamour nature and marvelous culture, such as the unique of Maharani Cave, or the fascinating of marine / WBL tourism area, the amazing of Gondang Dam tourism area and there are still a lot of tourism object which is interesting to be visited. Not just a tourist, Lamongan also has traditional cultural and culinary tourism is the only native culture Lamongan contained in Lamongan. one example is the traditional dance boranan, soto Lamongan, boranan rice, and tofu mix. Here I will discuss one by one thing that became characteristic of Lamongan.
Maharani Cave, is located in Tanjung Kodok sea tourism area, Paciran district Lamongan regency, about 200 m from Tanjung Kodok gateway fringe the roadway to east. About 50 m in the south of the street, there is stone that its soil is tire to form the bank that has downwards. The situation of the nature cave of Maharani Palace is stay at 200 m from Java seashore residing in Tanjung Kodok area, Paciran district, Lamongan regency. This cave is easily to visit and fluent to obtain the transportation towards to the location.
Lamongan Marine Tourism (WBL) is available with its unique, the result of combination between natural aspects, cultures, and architecture, which is global, taste but still maintain local trademark. Tanjung Kodok is located about 65 km from Surabaya, Lamongan regency. It is easier to get there from Gresik along Daendels road. Tanjung Kodok gained international renown as the focus of international research during the total solar eclipse on June 11, 1983. It is a peaceful seaside resort, and also a resting place for pilgrims to the tombs of two Moslem saints, Sunan Drajad and Sunan Sendang Duwur. The place derives its name, Tanjung Kodok, from a stone formation, which resembles a frog ("kodok").Tanjung Kodok is a beautiful beach with wonderful panorama, which has been known by the people for along time. Every years many Moslem astronomers come here to see the first coming of the moon to determined the beginning of the fasting period and Idul Fitri day. Ketupat is held here every years. This beach is very easy to reach by private or public transport.
Gondang Dam is located at Sugio district, 19 km south west of Lamongan.The main use of the dam is for irrigation, but now on, many tourists come there for having relax and fishing; camping ground, water bicycle and mini zoo are available. There are place for the children who want to play, such as water bicycle, and mini zoo that dwelt the several animals such as monkey, eagle, peacock and other animals. So those, the visitor can also bring their children to enjoy this place. By the motto of Sapta Pesona (Seven Charms), Gondang reservoir always creating safety, orderly, clean, cold, beautiful, audience and give the good memory for the visitor, to make the tourist always enjoy this tourism object.
Sunan Drajat is one of the charismatic of an Islam spreaders in Java who is called Wali Songo. He was very intelligent man and people called him Raden Qosim. He taught Islam at the north coast of Java especially at Paciran, Lamongan. As a religious teacher, Sunan Drajat was known as the social Moslem who paid much attention to the poor. He developed the social welfare first then he taught his doctrines. To respect his great struggle, the local government of Lamongan Regency built a museum in the complex of the cemetery.This grave is located at Paciran village, Lamongan district. Generally, the pilgrims of this grave are domestic tourist. Besides, tourists from Asian countries also often visit it. The facilities that the tourists can get in this graveyard are; parking area, mosque, restaurants, rest place and bathroom. Those facilities are prepared for the tourists, in order to get their pleasure to come to this place.
The impressive gateway of Sendang Duwur can be found on a hilltop not far from the coast at Paciran north of Lamongan or east of Tuban. The place name is taken from a Moslem Saints, Sunan Sendang, who was buried there in 1585. Sunan Sendang Duwur is one of the Islam spreaders in Java. His charismatic is the same as Wali Songo.The stylistically decoration of the gateway is describe about the transition from ancient Hindu / Javanese to Moslem principles. The symbols of Hindu Majapahit lie alongside Arabic Calligraphy. The outer gateway to the graveyard has Bentar style and inside of the gateway has Paduraksa style. The beautiful woodcarving surrounds the main tomb. In the right and the left side of the wall is decorated with two giant heads from the black stone material. The pilgrims from all part of the region, often visit to this beautiful graveyard.
TRADITIONAL CULTURE
This traditional dance is inspired by the activity of Boranan rice seller who come here and there from the morning till dawn. The move of Boranan dance is quite simply yet meaningful, with the ethic of traditionalism. It's shown the activity of Boranan seller preparing their food until presenting to the customer. The Boranan dancer is always coming from Lamongan, who wear traditional Lamongan batik cloth, between blue and black and red trip line on the waist and they will perform the dance for about 5 minutes.
CULINARY TOUR
Lamongan has been famous by its particular food like Soto or Wingko Babat, another traditional food which sometimes been forgotten is Boranan Rice. Boranan rice become favorite food for Lamongan inhabitant. This food is serve with banana's leaf which makes it more traditional, it also serve in many side dishes like soy bean cake or Tempe, Tofu, Fishes, Chicken, Rempeyek or chips and for sure, rice. Boranan rice or 'Sego Boranan' is a traditional food from Lamongan, East Java. It is not very popular from other area, for Lamongan is the one that has this food. We can find this food around the traditional market in Lamongan. Boranan rice is consist of: rice, the sauce, the side dishes, rempeyek or chips. The sauce for this rice is very rich, the side dishes also in variant like meat, chicken, the innards, milk fish, scrambled egg, salty egg, tofu, soy bean cake, and the most expensive fish - the Sili fish.Boranan rice is similar with Jamblang rice from Cirebon, West Java, which is serve by using teak leaf. the thing which makes Boranan rice become more particular is coming from the Sili fish and the chili sauce. Sili fish is taste sweet like a sardine fish, a smoke sardine.
Soto lamongan is different with any other Soto. Soto Lamongan is the only Soto which using Koya or some kind of garlic powder. The side dish for this food is chicken, that is a free-range chicken, which is been steam with the spices beforeAt first, the soup for this Soto is clear, but as the time goes by it has an acculturation with Surabaya Soto, which use milk fish for the soup. The early begin why using Koya is not been sure, the fact that Koya is made from shrimp cracker and fried garlic, which both of them are pounded manually.Soto Lamongan is consist of, rice, chicken, egg, the young egg or 'Uritan', celery, so'un noddle, and soup. There two ways to serve Soto Lamongan, in partly or mix in one bowl. In partly means that your rice will be parted from the soup and the dishes, or you can mix all the ingredient into one bowl. The ingredients from this Soto are coriander, caraway seed, lemon grass, onion, garlic, ginger, galangale, pepper, salt, candle nut and fried onion. Beside, Soto Lamongan also consist of carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamin and some other mineral from the meat, milk, fish and the green vegetable.
Tahu campur or Mix Tofu is such an icon for Lamongan. As mentioned, the main ingredient from this food is must be tofu, but sometimes tofu itself is not dominate the whole component from this food, together with Lontong, oddle, bean sprouts, meat, and shrimp cracker. The additional ingredient which makes this food more awesome is coming from petis, kind of sauce made by fermented shrimp. Tahu campur consist of, tofu, meat, lontong, noddle, bean sprout, lettuce, and lento. Lento is like piece of cake made from cassava. The existence of tahu campur nowadays is become a healthy food among any other junk food, because it contain more vitamin, protein, fat and carbohydrate.
